Awards


The Northeast Fencing Conference gives the following awards:

Fencer of the Year. Given to the top male and female fencer in the league. Winner is the fencer with the best percentage win/loss record who also has fenced in a minimum of 2/3 of the scheduled bouts in the season.

Elliot Lilien Award. Named after NFC founder, former Commissioner, and Fencing Hall of Fame nominated coach Elliot Lilien. This award is given to that fencer in the league who shows exemplary sportsmanship and an excellent parry system. Coaches or team representatives nominate candidates for this award, and selection is done by the coaches and team representatives by secret ballot.

Sachs Award. Named after Elif and Jason Sachs, former coaches at Tufts University. This award is "For the fencer with the best record who started fencing in College." [from the award inscription] To be eligible, a fencer must have fenced in a minimum of 2/3 of the scheduled bouts in the season.

Coaches of the Year. Given for men's team and women's team coaches. Nominations are by the coaches, and selection is done by the coaches and team representatives by secret ballot.
